July 31, 2007:
MassDEP issued a Unilateral Order to the city of Northampton for Air Quality (odor) violations.
MassDEP issued the Order due to recent flare outages that have resulted in off-site odor complaints. The problem with the system has not been identified despite investigation by several entities. Today's Order requires the town to provide full-time oversight of the landfill system until such time as successful retrofit is designed and installed. |
